Each Mouth Paint contains:
Clotrimazole mouth paint I.P 1% W/V

Clotrimazole is also known as azole antifungal agent. It prevents fungal growth of the skin. It can be taken by mouth or applied as a cream to the skin. Clotrimazole may be fungistatic (slow fungal growth) or fungicidal (result in fungal cell death).

Clotrimazole mouth paint is used for the treatment of fungal infection of the mouth or throat. It helps in fighting with the growth of fungus. It also relieves symptoms such as burning, itching, cracking of the skin.

Clotrimazole an imidazole derivative with a broad spectrum of antimycotic activity that inhibits biosynthesis of the sterol ergostol an important component of fungal cell membrane. Its action leads to increased membrane permeability and apparent disruption of enzyme systems bound to the membrane.
Clotrimazole inhibits biosynthesis of sterols, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane, thereby damaging and affecting the permeability of the cell membrane. This results in leakage and loss of essential intracellular compounds and eventually causes cell lysis.

ABSORPTION: Poorly and erratically absorbed orally, minimal vaginal or tropical absorption.
PROTEIN BINDING: 90%
METABOLISIM: Hepatic (metabolized to inactive metabolites)

Pregnant & Lacation Women: Small amounts of clotrimazole may be absorbed systemically following topical and vaginal administration. However this may be used to treat yeast infections in pregnant women’s. It should be taken under the supervision of physician.

Hypersensitivity to clotrimazole mouth paint is the contraindication.
