OINTMENT PRESENTATION:
Each 5 ml contains:

Halobetasol Propionate USP 0.05% w/w
Salicylic acid IP 6% w/w

This composition consists of two active ingredients i.e. Halobetasol propionate and salicylic acid which are used together to treat skin infections. They block the keratin clumps and soften the skin by removing the dead skin cells. Salicylic acid works by enhancing the absorption of Halobetasol in the skin.

Halobetasol propionate binds to the glucocorticoid receptors which mediated in the gene expression thus it inhibits phospholipase A2, neutrophil apoptosis therefore it decreases the formation of arachidonic derivatives that are responsible for inflammation and pain.
Salicylic acid helps to separate the dead cells from the living cells and prevents the clogging of pores or it promotes the growth of new cells.

Halobetasol propionate binds to the corticosteroid binding globulin in serum and excreted via urine.
